A: As many as you like! It is possible (but difficult) to create a film by yourself, but it might be an interesting project. There are many advantages to having a small crew or a large crew. A small crew isn’t as many people to argue and split the rewards. A large crew can easily defray the cost and split the responsibilities of creating a film. Whatever works for you! We have seen teams with two people and we have seen teams with a hundred!
A: We are very excited to announce that you can log in any time you like to start your own film! This will hold true for all of the 48 Projects from now on! Each team will have 48 hours starting from their log in time to complete and upload their project, with 2 hours after your Official Project Time Period ends to make sure you get everything in perfectly. Competition entries will end December 20, 2014. Films will be streamed for voting December 30th, 2014 until January 20th , 2015. This will give the public time to view and vote for the People’s Choice, and the Judges will review each entry and decide on the Grand Prize Winner!
A: You may submit more than one copy of your film to be safe, as well as submitting a better quality version if you want. You will have to let our team know which version you prefer to be judged on. All films must have duplicate content, but this will allow each team to be certain that their film was submitted properly, and in the best quality possible.
A: Only 48 Film Pro members can vote for the People’s Choice Award.
A: No! We have programmed the random generator so that no two entries will receive the same combination of assignments. This assures each film will be completely unique.
A: You will be responsible for putting together your own team. Be creative. Use the bulletin boards or local papers to advertise. Call on your friends. Check out any local acting communities, drama groups at local universities, put up fliers, advertise on Craigslist. Do whatever it takes to create that winning team that will make something special.
A: Yes! This is a really interesting take on the project, and we love to see creativity.
A: NO! This is cheating! It is also very difficult to do, considering the fact that the elements, prop, and genre are all randomly selected. Be warned, if you are caught cheating, you will be eliminated from the competition.
A: 4-7 minutes is the official length. You are given an extra one minute for credits at the end. Don’t be eliminated by not following the rules.
A: 48FilmProject.com is based in Hollywood, California and the film MUST either be in English or have English subtitles. Remember, that is where the winning films will be screened. It’s useless if the audience can’t understand your film, so this is in your best interest.
A: Never! We believe that artists and the public are the best judges of the value of your film, so our judging process uses a combination of the two to bring the fairest evaluation of your film.
A: 48FilmProject.com is unique because it is an entirely online event. Anyone, anywhere, with a camera and an internet connection can participate.
A: We are looking for Executive Producers and Event Coordinators. Contact us for more information!
A: Some film festivals limit the number of cameras or other types of equipment, but 48 Film Project believes in allowing creativity free reign! As long as you can upload your file to the internet, your equipment decisions are your own.!
